SECTION D: DATA AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
QUESTION 4
The library of the centre uses a database to keep track of its books, its members and the
books that members borrow.
4.1 Until last year, the library kept all its records in a paper register.
         4.1.1 Differentiate between data and information. (2)
         4.1.2 Give TWO advantages of storing the library’s records in a database
                     instead of in a paper register. (2)
4.2 The table tblBooks stores the details of the books. Examples of records in
         the table are shown below. (The data is fictitious.)
          BookID ISBN Title Author DatePublished Available Price
               1 0710458821     Stars over Tembisa N. Mokoena 2019/03/12      Yes     R245.00
               2 0798312406     Coding with Delphi R. Naidoo  2021/07/01      No      R389.95

               4 0798312406     Coding with Delphi R. Naidoo  2021/07/01      Yes     R389.95

         4.2.1 Suggest the most suitable data type for EACH of the following fields:
                     (a) ISBN       (b) DatePublished          (c) Available        (d) Price         (4)
         4.2.2 Give ONE reason why the ISBN field should NOT be stored as a
                     number data type.                                                                (1)
         4.2.3 The library has more than one copy of some books. Explain why the
                     ISBN field cannot be used as the primary key of the table. (1)
4.3 The database also contains the tables tblMembers and tblLoans. A member
         may borrow many books over time, and a book may be borrowed many times.
         The fields of the three tables are shown below.
             tblMembers                         tblLoans                            tblBooks
          MemberID                         LoanID                              BookID
          FirstName                        DateBorrowed                        ISBN
          Surname                          DateReturned                        Title
          CellNo                                                               Author
          DateOfBirth                                                          DatePublished
                                                                               Available

         4.3.1 Redraw the tables in your ANSWER BOOK and do the following:

                        • Indicate the primary key of each table.
                        • Add the foreign key(s) that are needed in the tblLoans table.
                        • Draw the relationships between the tables and indicate the type
                          of each relationship.
                                                                                                      (5)
         4.3.2 Explain the term referential integrity. (2)
4.4 When a new member registers, the details of the member are captured on a
         form.

SECTION E: SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT
QUESTION 5
5.1 The following Delphi statement has been executed:
             sWord := 'TEMBISA LEARNING CENTRE';

         Write down the result of EACH of the following statements. Each statement
         uses the original value of sWord.
         5.1.1       iLength := Length(sWord);                                                  (1)
         5.1.2       iPos := Pos('N', sWord);                                                   (1)
         5.1.3       sPart := Copy(sWord, 9, 5);                                                (1)
         5.1.4       Delete(sWord, 1, 8);           (Give the value of sWord.)                  (1)
5.2 Give the value of the variable in EACH of the following Delphi statements:
         5.2.1       iX := 17 DIV 5 + 17 MOD 5;                                                 (1)
         5.2.2       iY := Round(6.7) + Trunc(-2.7);                                            (1)
         5.2.3       bFlag := (5 > 3) AND NOT (2 = 2);                                          (1)
5.3 The following code was written to calculate and display the average of the
         ten marks stored in an array called arrMarks. The variables were declared
         as follows:
             arrMarks: array [1 .. 10] of Integer;
             i, iTotal, iAverage: Integer;
             Line 1         iTotal := 0;
             Line 2         for i := 1 to 9 do
             Line 3           iTotal := iTotal + arrMarks[i];
             Line 4         iAverage := iTotal / 10;
             Line 5         lblAverage.Caption := 'Average: ' + iAverage;

         5.3.1 Lines 4 and 5 contain syntax (compilation) errors. Explain the error
                     in EACH line and show how the line can be corrected. (4)
         5.3.2 The code also contains a logical error. Identify the line number of the
                     logical error and explain how it should be corrected. (2)
5.4 Study the following segment of Delphi code:
             iNum := 6;
             iCount := 0;
             sOut := '';
             for i := 1 to iNum do
               if iNum MOD i = 0 then
               begin
                 Inc(iCount);
