SCENARIO
Years of load-shedding and rising electricity prices have led many South African households,
schools and businesses to install solar power systems. LANGA SOLAR is a company in
Johannesburg that sells and installs solar panels, inverters and batteries.

QUESTION 1: WORD PROCESSING
Open the 1Power word processing document that contains an information booklet for Langa
Solar clients.
Insert your examination number in the header of the document.
1.1 Insert the ’Facet’ cover page as follows:
           • Document title: ’Going Solar’
           • Remove the Abstract content control. (3)
1.2 Modify the ’Solar’ style as follows:
           • Add a 1½ pt bottom border in any orange colour.
           • Change the spacing after the paragraph to 12 pt. (3)
1.3 Find the text ’Question/Vraag 1.3’ and replace it with the 1Panel image.
           • Change the width of the image to 6 cm, keeping the original proportions.
           • Apply ’Square’ text wrapping to the image. (3)
1.4 Find and replace ALL occurrences of the exact word ’inverter’ so that the word
is displayed in bold with a double underline. (3)
1.5 Find the table below the heading ’2.1 Typical system costs’ and modify it to
appear as shown in the example below.

                      System Size (kW) Price (R)
                      Basic 3 65000
                      Standard 5 98500

         NOTES:
           • Apply any ’Grid Table 4’ table style.
           • Use a function to calculate the average price. The result must update if
             the prices change.
           • Format the result as currency with NO decimal places. (5)

QUESTION 4: SPREADSHEET
NOTE:
 • Use formulae and/or functions for ALL calculations in the spreadsheet.
 • Use absolute cell references ONLY where necessary to ensure that formulae are correct
when you copy it to other cells in a spreadsheet.
 • Insert formulae and/or functions in such a manner that the correct results will still be
obtained even if values are changed in the existing data.
 • Should you need to use building blocks, use the space allocated for this in the spreadsheet
   data file.

Open the 4Quotes spreadsheet that contains the quotes that Langa Solar prepared for clients
from January to April 2026.
Work in the Quotes worksheet.
4.1 Insert a function in cell C3 to determine the date of the most recent quote.
Format the cell to display the date in the format: 22 April 2026 (2)
4.2 Insert a COUNTIFS function in cell C4 to determine the number of quotes for
business clients that require more than 20 panels. (4)
4.3 Insert a function in cell C5 to calculate the total number of panels quoted for
         in March 2026. (4)
4.4 Insert a combination of functions in cell J10 to create a code for the client, as
         follows:
           • The first THREE letters of the client name in capital letters, followed by
           • The last FOUR digits of the cell number
          Example: MTH2802 (4)
4.5 The discount is calculated on the subtotal as follows:
           • Schools receive a 10% discount.
           • Businesses with a subtotal of more than R150 000 receive a 5% discount.
           • No discount is given in all other cases.
Insert a nested IF function in cell H10 to calculate the discount for the client.
Copy the function to cell H49. (6)
4.6 Insert a function in cell K10 to determine the rank of the final amount of each
quote, where the highest final amount is ranked 1.
Copy the function to cell K49. (2)
Save and close the 4Quotes spreadsheet. [22]

5.1.1 Set the TechID field as the primary key. (1)
5.1.2 Change the data type of the Qualified field so that a user can only
select or clear a check box. (1)
5.1.3 Create an input mask for the EmpCode field so that data is captured
                     as follows:
                      • TWO compulsory letters that are always displayed in capital
                        letters, followed by
                      • A hyphen (-), followed by
                      • THREE compulsory digits

                     validation text. (3)
5.1.5 Ensure that the current date automatically appears in the StartDate

5.1.6 Modify the lookup properties of the Branch field so that a user can
select ’Johannesburg’, ’Pretoria’ or ’Polokwane’ from a drop-down
                     list. (3)
Save and close the tbl5_1 table.

           • Display ALL the fields in a columnar layout.
           • Insert the 5Logo image in the form header.
           • Change the title of the form to ’Langa Solar Clients’.
           • Ensure that the data in the ClientID field cannot be edited in Form View.

Display ONLY the InstallID, ClientID, InstallDate, SystemType and Battery
         fields of the following installations:
           • Premium systems installed from 1 January 2026 to 31 March 2026
           • Basic systems that include a battery
Save and close the qry5_3 query. (5)

QUESTION 7: GENERAL
Open the 7Letter document.
7.1 Langa Solar wants to send a letter to clients in Pretoria whose solar systems
         do NOT have a battery.
Prepare the letters using mail merge as follows:
           • Use the 7Clients spreadsheet as the data source for the 7Letter
             document.
           • Only clients in Pretoria without a battery must receive a letter.
           • Replace the text <<NAME>> with the FirstName field.
           • Save the 7Letter document in your examination folder, but do NOT close
             it.
           • Complete the merge and save the merged document as 7Merged. (5)
Close the 7Letter and 7Merged documents.
Open the 7Usage spreadsheet and work in the Usage worksheet.
7.2 Create a chart to appear as shown below.

NOTE: Move the chart to a new chart sheet called Chart. (5)
Work in the Payments worksheet.
7.3 Apply a data validation rule to cells C2:C61 so that a user can only select
’Cash’, ’EFT’ or ’Card’ from a drop-down list.
Display the error message ’Choose from the list’ when invalid data is entered. (3)
7.4 Change the page setup settings of the worksheet as follows:
           • Ensure that row 1 is repeated at the top of every printed page.
           • Fit ALL the columns on one page when the worksheet is printed. (2)
Save and close the 7Usage spreadsheet. [15]
