SECTION C: COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES
QUESTION 3
SCENARIO
 The festival headquarters (HQ) has a wired network that connects the computers in the
 office. Festival venues across the town must be connected to the HQ, and visitors are
 provided with free Wi-Fi in the festival village. Selected performances are streamed live
 over the internet.

3.1 The diagram below shows the network at the festival HQ.

                     Laptop                     Tablet

         3.1.1 Identify the physical topology of the network. (1)
         3.1.2 Identify device A that connects all the computers in the office. (1)
         3.1.3 Identify device B that connects the HQ network to the internet. (1)
3.2 Device C provides a Wi-Fi hotspot. Similar hotspots have been set up in the
         festival village for visitors.
         3.2.1       What is a hotspot?                                                        (2)
         3.2.2 State TWO security risks for visitors who use a public Wi-Fi hotspot. (2)
         3.2.3 Explain how a VPN will protect the data of a visitor who uses a public
                     hotspot.                                                                  (2)
3.3 Identify the type of network that will be created when the networks at venues
         across the town are connected to the network at the HQ. (1)
3.4 Selected performances are streamed live over the internet.
         3.4.1 Explain why video must be compressed before it is streamed. (2)
         3.4.2 Differentiate between lossy and lossless compression. (2)
         3.4.3 Give TWO factors that influence the quality of a live stream received
                     by viewers at home.                                                       (2)

SECTION D: DATA AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
QUESTION 4
The bookings for shows at the festival were initially stored in a single table called tblBookings.
Examples of records in the table are shown below.

4.1 Study the table above and answer the questions that follow.
          4.1.1 State TWO problems that are caused by the data redundancy in the
                     tblBookings table.                                                                  (2)
          4.1.2 Name and explain the anomaly that will occur if the ticket price of
                     the show ’Jozi Jazz Trio’ changes. (2)
          4.1.3 The tblBookings table must be split into three tables to remove the
                     redundancy. The tables tblCustomers and tblShows have been
                     designed as shown below.
                        tblCustomers                    tblShows                     tblBookings
                     CustomerID (PK)                ShowID (PK)
                     CustomerName                   ShowTitle
                     CustomerEmail                  Venue
                                                    ShowDate
                                                    TicketPrice

                     Redraw the tables in your ANSWER BOOK and complete the design
                     as follows:

                      • Fill in ALL the fields required in the tblBookings table, indicating
                        the primary key and the foreign key(s).
                      • Show the relationships between the tables, including the type of
                        each relationship.
                                                                                                         (6)
4.2 Name TWO different validation checks that could be applied to the
          NumTickets field when a booking is captured. (2)
4.3 The festival collects large volumes of data from ticket sales and the use of the
          festival app.
          4.3.1 Explain what is meant by data mining. (2)
          4.3.2 Give ONE example of how data mining could help the festival to plan
                     the programme for the next festival. (1)
4.4 The festival’s database management system (DBMS) keeps an audit trail.
          Explain the purpose of an audit trail. (2)
4.5 The database is distributed over a server at the HQ and a server at the ticket
          office. Give TWO advantages of a distributed database for the festival. (2)

SECTION E: SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT
QUESTION 5
5.1 Give the value of the variable in EACH of the following Delphi statements:
         5.1.1       iResult := 47 MOD 10 DIV 2;                                               (1)
         5.1.2       iLength := Length('Arts Festival');                                       (1)

5.2 The festival lasts five days. The following code was written to calculate the
         average number of tickets sold per day:
             Line 1         var
             Line 2           iDay, iTotal, iAverage: Integer;
             Line 3         begin
             Line 4           iTotal := 0;
             Line 5           for iDay := 1 to 4 do
             Line 6              iTotal := iTotal + StrToInt(InputBox('Sales',
                                     'Tickets sold on day ' + IntToStr(iDay),
                                     ''));
             Line 7           iAverage := iTotal / 5;
             Line 8           ShowMessage('Average: ' + IntToStr(iAverage));
             Line 9         end;

         5.2.1 Line 7 will cause a syntax (compilation) error. Explain why this error
                     occurs and suggest a correction. (2)
         5.2.2 The code contains a logical error. Identify the line number of the
                     logical error and explain how to correct it. (2)
         5.2.3 Give an example of input in Line 6 that will cause a runtime error
                     and explain why the error occurs. (2)
5.3 The festival app uses a class called TPerformance. The UML diagram of the
         class is shown below.

                       + calcIncome(rPrice: Real): Real
                       + toString: String

         5.3.1 Identify ONE accessor method in the UML diagram. (1)
         5.3.2 All the attributes are private. Explain why attributes are declared as
                     private.                                                                  (2)

SECTION F: INTEGRATED SCENARIO
QUESTION 6
SCENARIO
 The organisers of the Indalo Arts Festival want to use technology to improve the experience
 of visitors and to keep the festival safe. A festival app, an online ticketing system and
 cashless payments will be used this year.
 The IT team must also protect the festival’s systems and the personal information of visitors.

6.1 The festival app shows visitors the venues closest to them.
         6.1.1 Name TWO technologies that a smartphone can use to determine
                     its location.                                                              (2)
         6.1.2 State ONE privacy concern of location-based services. (1)
6.2 An AI chatbot on the festival website answers questions from visitors.
         6.2.1 Give TWO advantages of using an AI chatbot for the festival. (2)
         6.2.2 The chatbot sometimes gives answers that sound convincing but
                     are incorrect. Explain why it is important that the festival checks the
                     information that the chatbot provides. (2)
6.3 The ticket website was the target of a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS)
         attack on the day that tickets went on sale.
         6.3.1 Explain how a DDoS attack works. (2)
         6.3.2 Suggest TWO measures that the festival can take to reduce the
                     impact of a DDoS attack. (2)
         6.3.3 Ticket resellers used automated software (bots) to buy large
                     numbers of tickets. Explain how a CAPTCHA can prevent this. (2)
6.4 Each e-ticket contains a unique QR code. Explain how scanning the QR code
         against a central database prevents a copy of the same e-ticket from being
         used twice.                                                                            (2)
6.5 The festival promotes its events on social media.
         6.5.1 Explain the term digital footprint. (2)
         6.5.2 A post that a popular show has been cancelled went viral on social
                     media. Give ONE way in which visitors can verify whether the post
                     is fake news.                                                              (1)
6.6 Some visitors record complete performances and upload the videos to
         video-sharing websites.
         6.6.1 Explain why this may be an infringement of copyright. (2)
         6.6.2 The festival publishes its own photographs under a Creative
                     Commons licence. What does this mean? (1)
