                                     Hunger Statistics

Some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to
               lead a healthy active life.

The vast majority of the world’s hungry people live in developing
countries. Africa has 42 countries that are at risk of food insecurity
while Asia has 24 countries at risk of food insecurity.
Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest prevalence of hunger. One
person in four in this region is undernourished.

2.5.4 In your opinion give THREE reasons other than farming practices,
why Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest percentage of hungry
              people. (3)

3.3 Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Dagga is also called marijuana or cannabis.

When a person smokes dagga, the chemicals get into the blood and are
carried quickly to the brain. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) attaches to
receptors of neurons that are used for short-term memory, thought,
concentration, time perception and distance perception. THC replaces normal
neurotransmitters in a synapse, but is not broken down or removed quickly.
The effect is a feeling of pleasure followed by loss of memory, personality
disturbance, depression and anxiety. It also reduces physical skills. It can take
days and even weeks for the effects of THC to be removed from the body and
      allow neurons to work normally.
