Terms and Conditions

By accessing or using Hlayiso, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

Hlayiso is owned and operated by MHSquared (Pty) Ltd (registration number 202486249807), a company registered in South Africa.

Hlayiso provides digital educational services for South African learners in Grades 8–12, including:

• Study notes and textbook content aligned to the CAPS curriculum.
• Quizzes, flashcards, and past paper question banks for revision.
• AI-powered study assistant (chat, Snap problem solver).
• Gamification features (XP, streaks, leaderboards, quests, buddy system).
• Bursary listings and NBT preparation materials.
• Push notifications and over-the-air app updates.
• Subscription plans with tiered access to premium features.

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account (name, email, grade).
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.
• You may not misuse the platform, interfere with service availability, or use it for unlawful purposes.
• You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or exploit the service outside normal permitted use.
• You may not use automated tools to access the platform or extract content.

Hlayiso offers the following subscription tiers:

• Free — limited access to content, quizzes, and AI features.
• Basic — expanded access with higher usage limits.
• Premium — full access to all content and features.
• Elite — unlimited access including priority AI, all past papers, and exclusive features.

Pricing is displayed in South African Rand (ZAR) at checkout or within the app. Prices may change with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price increase takes effect on their next billing cycle.

Payments may be processed through:

• Paystack — for web-based card payments and subscriptions.
• Google Play — for in-app purchases on Android.
• Apple App Store — for in-app purchases on iOS.

You agree to provide valid payment information and authorise recurring charges associated with your selected plan. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

You may cancel a subscription at any time:

• Web subscriptions (Paystack) — cancel from Settings → Account → Subscription within the app, or email support@hlayiso.com.
• Google Play — manage through Google Play Store → Subscriptions.
• Apple App Store — manage through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access until then.

Refund policy

• Monthly subscriptions qualify for a refund request within 3 calendar days of the successful payment date.
• Yearly subscriptions qualify for a refund request within 7 calendar days of the successful payment date.
• After the applicable refund window has passed, charges are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where a billing error occurred.
• App store purchases are subject to the refund policies of Google Play or Apple.

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app. You may also request deletion by emailing support@hlayiso.comwith the subject "Account Deletion Request".

Account deletion is permanent and will result in:

• Removal of all personal information (name, email, phone, profile data).
• Deletion of all learning progress, quiz results, flashcard progress, and study history.
• Cancellation of any active subscription (no further charges will be made).
• Removal of all AI chat history and Snap problem images.
• Removal from leaderboards, buddy relationships, and quest progress.

Deletion is processed within 30 days. Anonymised analytics data may be retained. Payment transaction records are retained as required by financial regulations.

Hlayiso supplies digital services and digital access only. No physical goods are shipped, and no physical delivery or return process applies.

Access to digital content is provided immediately after successful payment and account activation. Over-the-air updates are delivered automatically to the mobile app.

Hlayiso uses artificial intelligence to provide study assistance, generate explanations, and solve problems. AI outputs are provided to support learning and should be used with independent judgment. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content.

AI chat messages and Snap images you submit are processed by third-party AI providers (Google Gemini, Cloudflare Workers AI) to generate responses. These interactions are stored in your account for conversation history.

The platform, branding, software, content structure, and original materials made available through Hlayiso remain the property of Hlayiso or its licensors.

Past examination papers are the intellectual property of the Department of Basic Education and are provided for educational use under fair dealing provisions.

You may use the service for personal, educational, and internal use only, subject to these terms.

• No unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or harmful use of the platform.
• No attempts to gain unauthorised access to systems, data, or other users' accounts.
• No transmission of malicious code, spam, or material that infringes third-party rights.
• No use of the AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content.
• No circumvention of subscription restrictions, rate limits, or access controls.
• No impersonation of other users on leaderboards or social features.

Violation of these rules may result in account suspension or termination without refund.

We may update, improve, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service from time to time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or error-free operation at all times.

We reserve the right to modify these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hlayiso is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the platform. This includes but is not limited to:

• Reliance on AI-generated content for examination preparation.
• Service interruptions or data loss.
• Unauthorised access to your account due to compromised credentials.

Your use of the platform is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is collected, used, shared, and protected.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
