QUESTION 1:- COMPREHENSION TEST Read the text and answer the questions about the text THE LOYAL ROTTWEILER This magnificent breed is a superb companion and protector, but isn’t suited to every home. 1. The Rottie owner must be a responsibe person who loves this breed. A large breed requires not only plenty of quality owner-time, it also requires correct discipline, socialisation from puppyhood and a minimum amount of formal training in order to maximise the potential of this dog and ensure that he becomes a well- adjusted canine citizen. 2. ifthe Rottweiler is properly socialised as a puppy, it will accept other animals with which it is raised. Care should be taken when introducing other dogs, especially of the same sex. All interaction with other pets such as cats should be carefully supervised until certain that there is mutual respect and acceptance and there is no danger of problems. 3. Asa large breed which is intelligent and active, the Rottweiler requires ongoing training right from when you collect your puppy from the breeder. Socialisation is vital and your first stop should be reputable training school where you should enrol for regular classes. Basic obedience classes should start at an appropiate age and this process will help to foster a sense of disipline and good behaviour in your Rottweiler. 4. Rottweilers love children and make excellent pets and protectors. Having said this, all dog owners should be responsible and ensure that children treat the dog properly. When puppies play they ‘play-bite’ each other, and when playing wiyh children may do the same — with painful results. Interaction between dogs and children should always be carefully supervised to avoid problems. Never allow children to play roughly with dogs, especially a large breed like a Rottweiler, and expect the dog to not retaliate. Be sensible and keep strict discipline.
