The IEB will not enter into any discussions or correspondence about any marking guidelines. It is acknowledged that there may be different views about some matters of emphasis or detail in the guidelines. It is also recognised that, without the benefit of attendance at a standardisation meeting, there may be different interpretations of the application of the marking guidelines. Downloaded from hlayiso.com NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE: TELUGU SECOND ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE: PAPER II – Page 2 of 3 MARKING GUIDELINES SECTION A 1. – COMPOSITION Use the following rating scale complemented with "global" evaluation of the essay. 1. 100–80% Excellent methodical – no errors 2. 79–70% Very good – without errors 3. 69–60% Good effort – few errors 4. 59–50% Very satisfactory – few errors 5. 49–40% Moderate effort – errors, grammar, spelling 6. 39–30% Fair – quite a few errors, grammar, spelling 7. 29–20% Poor expression – many spelling errors 8. 19–0% Very weak effort – poor expression; many grammatical and spelling errors SECTION B 2. – TRANSACTIONAL • Use the above rating scale and suggestions. • Allot marks for address, salutation and conclusion (2, 1, 1). • Content will carry the bulk of the marks – also consider "global" evaluation.
