Miss Gillian Palmer
Teacher 1976 – 2019
It is incredible to think that our school has been going strong for so many years. I have seen the
school develop and grow. Once I actually taught in the garage behind the tuck shop while we
waited for the new prefab classrooms to arrive.
Class teaching went all the way to Grade 5 and as a class teacher I taught all the subjects
including religious studies, needle work, health and handwriting. Projects were completed at
home with plenty of input from parents.
The learners made use of the school library for all their research. Encyclopaedias and non-fiction
books were the only sources of written information available. There was no google in those days!
