QUESTION 2 Read the extract below and answer the questions that follow. HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS Safe and healthy living The recent sale of contaminated1 food products by some small businesses in communities raised serious concerns about public health, consumer protection and human rights. Media reports indicated that some businesses had been selling hazardous food products, impacting on safe and healthy living conditions in communities. Investigations revealed that many of these businesses were operating illegally, failing to comply with food safety regulations, thereby putting the community's health at serious risk. Although some of these businesses are owned by foreign nationals, the real issue is not about nationality, but rather the lack of enforcement of food safety laws and non-compliance by certain businesses. However, some of these owners who have been accused of selling contaminated products have become victims of xenophobia in their communities, impacting on their mental well-being.
