Question 5: [4]
Read the following paragraphs and answer the questions that follow in full sentences.
Cotton: Cotton comes from the cotton plant. The cotton plant produces a pod that bursts open and
forms a ball of cotton. These fibres are coloured and woven into fabric (cloth) that can be made into
clothes. This fabric is strong but creases easily. It is cool and comfortable to wear in summer.
Wool: Wool is made from animal fibres, animals like sheep, goats and rabbits. It is spun into fibres
which can be coloured and made into wool fabric or used for knitting. Wool is a weak fabric but it does
not wrinkle easily. It is comfortable and warm, but expensive.
Polyester: Polyester is made from manufactured fibres. The fibre can be woven into fabrics with
different colours and patterns. It is a strong fabric that does not wrinkle easily. It can make your body
feel hot and clammy. An example of another manufactured fibre is nylon which is made from liquid coal
or oil.
