Gousloeded from Stanmoreph Sics.com Limpopo DoE 2026 rade 12 1.3 Refer to the extract on the development of Tropical Cyclone Dzudai. Tropical cyclone Dzudai developed over the Indian Ocean on 10 January 2026. The system rapidly intensified, and by January 12 it had strengthened into a Category 4— equivalent tropical cyclone, producing sustained winds of approximately 130 mph (209 km/h). After reaching peak intensity, Dzudai weakened quickly, dropping to a Category 1-equivalent cyclone where it remained for about 24 hours. On January 15, the storm reorganized, redeveloped a well-defined eye, and regained strength, with maximum sustained winds of around 110 mph (177 km/h). As Dzudai continued traveling southwestward over the Indian Ocean, environmental conditions became less favorable. The cyclone steadily weakened, and by January 17 its winds decreased to approximately 65 mph (105 km/h). Dzudai maintained this intensity for several days before finally dissipating on January 21, 2026. (2) (1 x 2) (2) [CONCEPT] At night the Earth’s surface cools rapidly, causing the air near the ground to become cooler and denser. (2) Temperature inversion forms where warmer air lies above the cooler air preventing vertical air movement oy a Pollutants are trapped near the surface causing pollution dome to be at lower level during the night. (2) (2 x 2) (4) [ANY TWO] Smog (1) (1x 1) (1) Pollutants from vehicles, industries and power stations accumulate under the pollution dome (2) Due to air being unable to circulate, these pollutants build up near the ground and form smog (2) (1 x 2) (2) [ANY ONE] At night, temperature inversion traps polluted air close to the ground and prevents it from mixing with cleaner air above.
