QUESTION 5

ARE THEY DRINKING TO THEIR HEALTH?
Many people think that if they control the amount of alcohol they take in, they will

found to have the worst incidence of FAS in the world. The Western Cape has at
least four times more children affected than elsewhere in the world. It is estimated
that one in ten children in Grade 1 in the Western Cape has FAS. Government
officials also announced that 25% of pregnant women attending clinics are heavy
