Learners can find or show ob jects shaped like boxes (prisms) in the classroom. e.g. "this can of tomatoes is shaped like a cylinder”. During independent, time learners can use these ob jects (templates) to make a mobile using balls and cylinders and box shapes (prisms), P.T.O.

ORAL AND PRACTICAL TASK 3 GRADE 3 2. Focusing on features of 3-D ob jects: flat or curved surfaces, the shapes of flat surfaces. . Building single 3D ob jects. Learners use cut-out cardboard squares or rectangles to make a box. This focuses learners on the shape of the flat surfaces of the box. Learners then look at the flat surfaces on prisms and cylinders and describe them according to whether they are circular, square or rectangular. There are 8 shapes that Grade 3 learners do not HAVE TO KNOW. The teacher may use only the ones stipulated by policy, However, it can be used as an introduction to other 34 ob jects. P.T.O.
